A conversation with Hugh about my silly yearbook entry

If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat . . . don't ask me what I want it for if you don't want to pay some more says:
are you afraid of your strengths more so than your weakness? I paraphrase your epigram.

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
No..It's sometimes that we fear being great, being a leader, yet we all have the potential

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
It's saying live up to your potential...and others will follow suit

If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat . . . don't ask me what I want it for if you don't want to pay some more says:
Isn't your potential your strength. So our "fear [of] being great" for which "we all have the potential" is in fact a fear of our strength? But I forget how I paraphrased it.

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
we fear being great...we fear that we can not shine, we fear the responsibility, we fear a lot of things, not our strengths but our potential or what we can be...

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
"Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so
that other people
[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our fear, our presence
automatically liberates others."

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
It's a long quote

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
But it is a good one

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
you should read my journal more often

If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat . . . don't ask me what I want it for if you don't want to pay some more says:
But my question is this: does not our strength, our ability by which we become great, lie in our potential? If we have no potential, we have no strength. But if we have no strength, we may still have potential. We could potentially gain strength

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
you don't need strength to have potential..they are not synonimous

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
yes, we can gain strength

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
the idea is you have limited potential just in your question

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
the idea is that there is unlimited potential even if you have no strengths at all even...because it is true we can gain strength externally

If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat . . . don't ask me what I want it for if you don't want to pay some more says:
I agree with you that we don't need strength to have potential, but I didn't argue that. I argued that our strength lies in our potential. They are not synonomous, but like a baby, our strength to grow lies in our potential to grow. We need the potential before we realize our strength

If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat . . . don't ask me what I want it for if you don't want to pay some more says:
you don't need strength to have potential but you need potential to have strength

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
yes...strengths have nothing to do with sterngth...there was some confusion on my part

If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat . . . don't ask me what I want it for if you don't want to pay some more says:
What? Strengths have nothing to do with strengths?

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
i argue that you don't need potential...you always have it

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
an s means a lot in english and scrabble

If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat . . . don't ask me what I want it for if you don't want to pay some more says:
I see. My follow up question is this: why then do we fear the potential that we have, when it implies a strength that is as yet unused? WHY!

If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat . . . don't ask me what I want it for if you don't want to pay some more says:
Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps the potential does not imply a strength, only the possibility of strength, which also grants the possibility of weakness. So perhaps the fear has nothing to do with potential itself, but with the possibility of failure.

[(bah)] ~£aS! Ice Dragon -Avacado Avarice in April [(6)] [(u)] says:
fear of god and our peers, fear of failure, taking a difficult jump can lead in an injury, but it is easier with a coach and practice

If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat . . . don't ask me what I want it for if you don't want to pay some more says:
well Las. I appreciate your wisdom, but I must return to my essay.

potential is the greatest stregth we have...it is what is inherent in the "american dream"
